Install the tautau extension
This extension is for Chrome on a desktop or laptop. The Chrome Web Store manages updates, but a new version can take time to appear there during review. The latest manual release is 1.17.15; you can install its verified ZIP directly.
Recommended
Chrome Web Store
Open the listing and choose Add to Chrome if it is available. Pin tautau from the extensions menu, then refresh pages you already had open.
Open the Store listingManual option
Verified ZIP
Version 1.17.15 is hosted here. Keep the extracted folder: Chrome loads the extension from that folder, and manual installs do not update automatically.
Install the ZIP in Chrome
- Download and extract the ZIP. Move the extracted folder somewhere permanent, such as Documents. The folder you select in Chrome must contain
manifest.jsondirectly inside it. - Type
chrome://extensionsinto Chrome's address bar. Turn on Developer mode. - Choose Load unpacked and select that extracted folder. Pin tautau from Chrome's extensions menu.
- Refresh any tabs that were already open so the extension can appear on those pages.
Checking and updating a manual install
The checksum link lets you verify the ZIP before extracting it. Manual installs do not receive Store updates.
For a later version, replace the files in the same permanent folder, open chrome://extensions, choose Reload on tautau, then refresh your tabs. If you switch between the Store and manual versions, disable the other copy first. You may need to sign in again.
Try it on a page
Focus a text field and use the mic button to dictate. For media, open the tautau toolbar popup, expand More capture tools, then choose Collect assets. Select a video and choose Download source, Collect buffered media, or Playback capture when the site supports it.
This device saves locally without signing in. tautau cloud needs sign-in and saves to your private asset library. Buffered collection is experimental: it supports compatible H.264 or VP8/VP9 video with Opus audio, up to 10 minutes and 128 MiB locally, or 5 minutes and 50 MiB in the cloud. Protected or unsupported streams are refused, and playback capture runs at normal speed.
